St George Chapel - Wedding Ceremony
For an Anglican or Catholic ceremony St George chapel in Paphos is most definitely one of the most beautiful venues in Cyprus. It boasts a stunning interior of frescoes and offers fantastic views overlooking the Mediterranean. It is approximately a 10-15 minute drive to Paphos old town and is located half way between the harbour area and Coral Bay. The chapel is air conditioned and can seat up to 22 guests although it has been known to stand many more inside! The ceremony would be read in English and performed exactly as it would be if it were a church wedding in the UK. This would last approximately 25-30 minutes for a Catholic or Anglican ceremony with both denominations receiving the wedding certificate thereafter. Once the couple has arrived in Cyprus a meeting would be arranged with church officials to finalise the finer details of the day such as choice of classical music to be played, hymns to be sung and readings to read! If this fabulous venue is chosen for a truly memorable day it should also reflect values and beliefs about marriage as it is a religious ceremony.
Note: For Catholic weddings it is a requirement of the church that the couple attend an informal civil ceremony before the Catholic ceremony in order for the marriage to be legal.
For Anglican and Catholic ceremonies booking well in advance is essential.
