Town Hall Paphos Wedding

There are various reasons why couples choose a civil ceremony. Maybe your religious beliefs are different to those of your partner or maybe quite simply you “just want to be married”. For your own personal reasons, a civil ceremony may suit you best.

Paphos municipality is situated in the heart of Paphos old town making it a 10-15 minute drive from most hotels in Paphos, furthermore the architectural stature of the building is quite remarkable! This is in addition to the pride that is taken by the municipality for the up keep of the town hall and surrounding gardens making it an excellent location for photo opportunities. Thankfully the ceremony is read in English and is a relatively short reading lasting approximately 8-10 minutes. However it has to be said that this does not by any means take away the importance of the day. The couple will be asked individually to repeat the words “I call upon all persons here present to witness that I (name of Bride/Groom) accept you (name of Bride/Groom) as my lawful spouse, to love and to share with you from this day, moments of joy and sorrow, wealth and poverty, happiness and unhappiness, throughout our life until death do separate us.”

Civil Ceremony including marriage license fee €282 (£165.00cy) Thursday 3.00pm-5pm, not available during July and August

The couple will be guided by the registrar as when to speak and are not expected to remember all of it in a single reading!

The same words apply for all ceremonies at all municipalities and outdoor venues in Paphos regardless of location, it is also important to be aware that the words can not be changed as this is what will make the marriage legal. By providing an alternative choice of music, other than the traditionally played “here comes the bride” can give an added personal touch to the ceremony if required.
